The Master of Economics and Business – Major in Finance program (MEMBF) is a combination of in-depth study of quantitative methods with a practical solution of business tasks and prepares students for a wide range of financial services that require analytical severity and the ability to market innovative challenges. MEMBF develops competencies needed to use advanced mathematical models and quantitative methods to create innovative solutions for the complex problems of financing.

Graduates of this program will be able to work in different finance field, such as investment and corporate banks, financial data base, asset managers, hedge funds, consulting firms, insurance companies, financial departments of major corporations and governments. Risk Management is one of the most growing fields in financial services industry globally and in Kazakhstan in particular.

At the end of the program graduates will be able to:

  • Develop and polish solid risk management competences
  • Describe the risk management process and identify problems and challenges that can arise in the risk management process
  • Evaluate and apply tools and procedures used to measure and manage risk, including quantitative measures, qualitative assessment, and enterprise risk management
  • Know the responsibility of each GARP Member with respect to professional integrity, ethical conduct, conflicts of interest, confidentiality of information, and adherence to generally accepted practices in risk management
  • Establish and develop a strong culture of risk awareness with in their organizations

Rules of admission to the Master programs

1. Entry Requirements

1.1. According to the Model Rules for admission to educational organization, implementing vocational training programs of postgraduate studies (No. 109 Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan of January 19, 2012), applications for Master and PhD Programs at universities and scientific organizations are held from 3 to 25 July 2019.
1.2. Persons covered respective or related vocational study program of higher education with at least 240 ECST (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) can be admitted to the Master Program.
If Applicant’s specialty is not respective or related to a chosen program he /she can attend courses as a visited student with an existence of at least 3 years of working experience. Exception is interdisciplinary programs.

1.3. Admission to the Master or programs is being realized upon result of the Entrance Examination or CT to Science-pedagogical Master Program. It is included study in English or to Profile Master Program taught in English. If the mentioned is followed applicants should score the Entrance Examination as follows:

  • Science-pedagogical Master Programs:
  • Foreign Language – Not less than 50 points;
  • Core course – Not less than 50 points;
  • Profile Master Program:
  • Foreign Language – Not less than 30 points;
  • Core course – Not less than 50 points;
  • For Science-pedagogical Master Program in Russian and English and Profile Master Program in English – not less than 19 points, including as follows:
  • Test on willingness to learn – not less than 5 points;
  • Profile test:
  • Choosing 1 correct answer – not less than 6 points,
  • Choosing one or several correct answers – not less than 8 points.

1.4. Persons with certificates/diplomas of foreign educational institutions in accordance with the paragraph 9-1 of the Model Rules for admission to education organization need to pass the procedure for recognition or nostrification of their documents on education and provide the Admission Committee with a respective certificate.

In accordance with international treaties (agreements) documents on education issued by foreign educational organizations are recognized on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

2. List of Documents
2.1. Applicants to the Master program must submit to the Admission Committee following documents:

  • Application addressed to the Rector of the M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University, JSC (Appendix 9);
  • Copy and original of Higher (postgraduate) education document;
  • Copy of International Certificate showing a level of foreign language knowledge (if any);
  • List of personnel records confirming applicant’s work activity (copy of work records or copy of employment contract or reference from work place showing date or duration of work);
  • 6 photos in size of 3×4 cm;
  • 086-У Medical Certificate;
  • Copy of ID card;
  • List of Research and Methodological work (if any).

3. Requirements to Entrance Examination on a Foreign Language

3.1. The Entrance examination on a foreign language to the Master Programs and CT for studies on the Master Program to be taught in English and Russian is held by the National Testing Center of the MES RK in a form of testing (consist of three blocks: Listening, Writing, Reading) from 8 to 16 August of 2019.

3.2. Applicant can be released from this Entrance examination if he/she has following International certificates:
English:
Test of English as a Foreign Language Institutional Testing Program (TOEFL ITP)– not less than 163 баллов;
Test of English as a Foreign Language Institutional Testing Programm (TOEFL IBT) entrance point– not less than 46;
Test of English as a Foreign Language Paper-based testing (TOEFLPBT) entrance point– not less than 453;
Test of English as a Foreign Language Paper-delivered testing (TOEFLPDT) – entrance point– not less than 65;
International English Language Tests System (IELTS), entrance point– not less than 5.5;

German:
Deutsche Sprachpruеfung fuеr den Hochschulzugang (DSH, Niveau С1/ C1 level),
Test Da F-Prufung (Niveau C1/ C1 level);

French:
Test de Franзais International – (TFI) – not lower than В1 level on reading and listening sections;
Diplome d’Etudes en Langue franзaise – (DELF), B2 level;
Diplome Approfondide Langue franзaise – (DALF), C1 level;
Test de connaissance du franзais – (TCF) – not less than 400 pointts.

4. Requirements to applicants entering the HSE Master Program

4.1 Applicants to the Science Pedagogical Master Program of the HSE must pass:
Ministry of Education and Science Comprehensive Exam;
International GMAT-like exam for MBEMF(Master of Business and Economics with Major in Finance).
4.2. Graduates of related specialties of the following Institutions with GPA not less than 2.67 are released from the GMAT-like exam:
M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University;
Nazarbayev Univesrity;
KBTU;
KIMEP;
Graduates of the accredited international Universities’ bachelor programme are subjects for internal entry exam’s exemption.

4.3. Applicants entering the Master’s program in an unrelated specialty and having successfully passed the entrance examinations must cover the prerequisites according to the requirements of in accordance with the Academic Policy of HSE.

5. Admission of International applicants to the Master’s programs

5.1. Entrance examinations for foreigners include:
Foreign language examination (English, German, French) relevant certificate of completion;
Interview;
240 ESTC of prior Learning.

One of two following certificates is accepted to confirm English knowledge:
IELTS, band score – not less than 6.0 points;
TOEFL ITP – not less than 460 points.

German:
Deutsche Sprachprufung fur den Hochschulzugang (DSH, NiveauС1/level С1);
TestDaF-Prufung (Niveau C1/level С1).

French:
TestdeFranсaisInternational™ (TFI – not lower than level B1 for Reading and Listening);
Diplomed’Etudesen Langue francaise (DELF, level В2),
DiplomeApprofondi de Langue francaise (DALF, level С1);
Тestdeconnaissancedufrancaisе (TCF – not less than 400 points).

A right to receive free post-graduate education for foreigners is up to International treaties/agreements of the Republic of Kazakhstan

5.2. International students willing to enroll to the KAZGUU Master’s should feel an Application form and enclose to it documents, as follows:
Original of Bachelors’ diploma and a transcript;
6 photos sized 3х4 cm;
Сertificate from your country with a notarized translation into Russian or Kazakh;
086-У Medical certificate with a fluorography and a copy of vaccination card;
Certificate confirms a level of foreign language (if any);
Certificate of an education grant award (if any);
Copy of ID card (you need to have original document with you);
Certificate of criminal records.

All documents on secondary or higher education must pass the nostrification (recognition) procedure at the Center of the Bologna Process in Nur-Sultan city.

E-version of the above mentioned documents should be sent to e-mail of the Admissions Committee at admission@kazguu.kz before July 25, 2019

5.3. Visa support and signing of an Agreement

Admission committee sends an applicant official invitation letter and number of a support for visa application at the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in an own country.

In case of applicant’s the absence in Kazakhstan, it is possible to sign the contract in his country and send the signed contract by mail to the Admissions Committee for further procedure (the expenses for mail services are covered by the applicant). It is also possible to sign an agreement online.

After receiving a visa, the applicant must arrive to the country no later than August 24, 2019 and pay the tuition fee for a 1 semester. At the same time before arrival, the applicant must send the scanned version of his ticket and visa to the manager of the Admissions Committee.

During the day (or the next day) upon arrival in the country, the entrant must register in the journal of the lawyer of the CSC and the migration service.1

Dormitory. The applicant applies for accommodation in the dormitory through the Platonus, an electronic information study system.

3. Requirements to Entrance Examination on a Foreign Language

3.1. The Entrance examination on a foreign language to the Master Programs and CT for studies on the Master Program to be taught in English and Russian is held by the National Testing Center of the MES RK in a form of testing (consist of three blocks: Listening, Writing, Reading) from 8 to 16 August of 2019.

3.2. Applicant can be released from this Entrance examination if he/she has following International certificates:
English:
Test of English as a Foreign Language Institutional Testing Program (TOEFL ITP)– not less than 163 баллов;
Test of English as a Foreign Language Institutional Testing Programm (TOEFL IBT) entrance point– not less than 46;
Test of English as a Foreign Language Paper-based testing (TOEFLPBT) entrance point– not less than 453;
Test of English as a Foreign Language Paper-delivered testing (TOEFLPDT) – entrance point– not less than 65;
International English Language Tests System (IELTS), entrance point– not less than 5.5;

4. Requirements to applicants entering the HSE Master Program

4.1 Applicants to the Science Pedagogical Master Program of the HSE must pass:
Ministry of Education and Science Comprehensive Exam;
International GMAT-like exam for MBEMF(Master of Business and Economics with Major in Finance).
4.2. Graduates of related specialties of the following Institutions with GPA not less than 2.67 are released from the GMAT-like exam:
M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University;
Nazarbayev Univesrity;
KBTU;
KIMEP;
Graduates of the accredited international Universities’ bachelor programme are subjects for internal entry exam’s exemption.

4.3. Applicants entering the Master’s program in an unrelated specialty and having successfully passed the entrance examinations must cover the prerequisites according to the requirements of in accordance with the Academic Policy of HSE.

5. Admission of International applicants to the Master’s programs

5.1. Entrance examinations for foreigners include:
Foreign language examination (English, German, French) relevant certificate of completion;
Interview;
240 ESTC of prior Learning.

One of two following certificates is accepted to confirm English knowledge:
IELTS, band score – not less than 6.0 points;
TOEFL ITP – not less than 460 points.

German:
Deutsche Sprachprufung fur den Hochschulzugang (DSH, NiveauС1/level С1);
TestDaF-Prufung (Niveau C1/level С1).

French:

5.2. International students willing to enroll to the KAZGUU Master’s should feel an Application form and enclose to it documents, as follows:
Original of Bachelors’ diploma and a transcript;
6 photos sized 3х4 cm;
Сertificate from your country with a notarized translation into Russian or Kazakh;
086-У Medical certificate with a fluorography and a copy of vaccination card;
Certificate confirms a level of foreign language (if any);
Certificate of an education grant award (if any);
Copy of ID card (you need to have original document with you);
Certificate of criminal records.

All documents on secondary or higher education must pass the nostrification (recognition) procedure at the Center of the Bologna Process in Nur-Sultan city.

E-version of the above mentioned documents should be sent to e-mail of the Admissions Committee at admission@kazguu.kz before July 25, 2019

5.3. Visa support and signing of an Agreement

Admission committee sends an applicant official invitation letter and number of a support for visa application at the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in an own country.

In case of applicant’s the absence in Kazakhstan, it is possible to sign the contract in his country and send the signed contract by mail to the Admissions Committee for further procedure (the expenses for mail services are covered by the applicant). It is also possible to sign an agreement online.

After receiving a visa, the applicant must arrive to the country no later than August 24, 2019 and pay the tuition fee for a 1 semester. At the same time before arrival, the applicant must send the scanned version of his ticket and visa to the manager of the Admissions Committee.

During the day (or the next day) upon arrival in the country, the entrant must register in the journal of the lawyer of the CSC and the migration service.1

Dormitory. The applicant applies for accommodation in the dormitory through the Platonus, an electronic information study system.

MSc in Tourism Management

The Master’s Program in Tourism Management is based on the international educational standards with focus on the local content. Rules of admission to the Master programs

1. Entry Requirements

1.1. According to the Model Rules for admission to educational organization, implementing vocational training programs of postgraduate studies (No. 109 Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan of January 19, 2012), applications for Master and PhD Programs at universities and scientific organizations are held from 3 to 25 July 2019.

1.2. Persons covered respective or related vocational study program of higher education with at least 240 ECST (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) can be admitted to the Master Program.
If Applicant’s specialty is not respective or related to a chosen program he /she can attend courses as a visited student with an existence of at least 3 years of working experience. Exception is interdisciplinary programs.

1.3. Admission to the Master or programs is being realized upon result of the Entrance Examination or CT to Science-pedagogical Master Program. It is included study in English or to Profile Master Program taught in English. If the mentioned is followed applicants should score the Entrance Examination as follows:

  • Science-pedagogical Master Programs:
  • Foreign Language – Not less than 50 points;
  • Core course – Not less than 50 points;
  • Profile Master Program:
  • Foreign Language – Not less than 30 points;
  • Core course – Not less than 50 points;
  • For Science-pedagogical Master Program in Russian and English and Profile Master Program in English – not less than 19 points, including as follows:
  • Test on willingness to learn – not less than 5 points;
  • Profile test:
  • Choosing 1 correct answer – not less than 6 points,
  • Choosing one or several correct answers – not less than 8 points.

1.4. Persons with certificates/diplomas of foreign educational institutions in accordance with the paragraph 9-1 of the Model Rules for admission to education organization need to pass the procedure for recognition or nostrification of their documents on education and provide the Admission Committee with a respective certificate.

In accordance with international treaties (agreements) documents on education issued by foreign educational organizations are recognized on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

3. Requirements to Entrance Examination on a Foreign Language

3.1. The Entrance examination on a foreign language to the Master Programs and CT for studies on the Master Program to be taught in English and Russian is held by the National Testing Center of the MES RK in a form of testing (consist of three blocks: Listening, Writing, Reading) from 8 to 16 August of 2019.

3.2. Applicant can be released from this Entrance examination if he/she has following International certificates:

Test of English as a Foreign Language Institutional Testing Program (TOEFL ITP)– not less than 163 баллов;

4. Requirements to applicants entering the HSE Master Program

4.1 Applicants to the Science Pedagogical Master Program of the HSE must pass:
Ministry of Education and Science Comprehensive Exam;
International GMAT-like exam for MBEMF(Master of Business and Economics with Major in Finance).
4.2. Graduates of related specialties of the following Institutions with GPA not less than 2.67 are released from the GMAT-like exam:
M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University;
Nazarbayev Univesrity;
KBTU;
KIMEP;
Graduates of the accredited international Universities’ bachelor programme are subjects for internal entry exam’s exemption.

4.3. Applicants entering the Master’s program in an unrelated specialty and having successfully passed the entrance examinations must cover the prerequisites according to the requirements of in accordance with the Academic Policy of HSE.

5. Admission of International applicants to the Master’s programs

5.1. Entrance examinations for foreigners include:
Foreign language examination (English, German, French) relevant certificate of completion;
Interview;
240 ESTC of prior Learning.

One of two following certificates is accepted to confirm English knowledge:
IELTS, band score – not less than 6.0 points;
TOEFL ITP – not less than 460 points.

5.2. International students willing to enroll to the KAZGUU Master’s should feel an Application form and enclose to it documents, as follows:

6 photos sized 3х4 cm;
Сertificate from your country with a notarized translation into Russian or Kazakh;
086-У Medical certificate with a fluorography and a copy of vaccination card;
Certificate confirms a level of foreign language (if any);
Certificate of an education grant award (if any);
Copy of ID card (you need to have original document with you);
Certificate of criminal records.

All documents on secondary or higher education must pass the nostrification (recognition) procedure at the Center of the Bologna Process in Nur-Sultan city.

5.3. Visa support and signing of an Agreement

Admission committee sends an applicant official invitation letter and number of a support for visa application at the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in an own country.

In case of applicant’s the absence in Kazakhstan, it is possible to sign the contract in his country and send the signed contract by mail to the Admissions Committee for further procedure (the expenses for mail services are covered by the applicant). It is also possible to sign an agreement online.

After receiving a visa, the applicant must arrive to the country no later than August 24, 2019 and pay the tuition fee for a 1 semester. At the same time before arrival, the applicant must send the scanned version of his ticket and visa to the manager of the Admissions Committee.

During the day (or the next day) upon arrival in the country, the entrant must register in the journal of the lawyer of the CSC and the migration service.1

Dormitory. The applicant applies for accommodation in the dormitory through the Platonus, an electronic information study system.

Rules of admission to the Master programs

1. Entry Requirements

1.1. According to the Model Rules for admission to educational organization, implementing vocational training programs of postgraduate studies (No. 109 Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan of January 19, 2012), applications for Master and PhD Programs at universities and scientific organizations are held from 3 to 25 July 2019.

1.2. Persons covered respective or related vocational study program of higher education with at least 240 ECST (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) can be admitted to the Master Program.
If Applicant’s specialty is not respective or related to a chosen program he /she can attend courses as a visited student with an existence of at least 3 years of working experience. Exception is interdisciplinary programs.

1.3. Admission to the Master or programs is being realized upon result of the Entrance Examination or CT to Science-pedagogical Master Program. It is included study in English or to Profile Master Program taught in English. If the mentioned is followed applicants should score the Entrance Examination as follows:

  • Science-pedagogical Master Programs:
  • Foreign Language – Not less than 50 points;
  • Core course – Not less than 50 points;
  • Profile Master Program:
  • Foreign Language – Not less than 30 points;
  • Core course – Not less than 50 points;
  • For Science-pedagogical Master Program in Russian and English and Profile Master Program in English – not less than 19 points, including as follows:
  • Test on willingness to learn – not less than 5 points;

1.4. Persons with certificates/diplomas of foreign educational institutions in accordance with the paragraph 9-1 of the Model Rules for admission to education organization need to pass the procedure for recognition or nostrification of their documents on education and provide the Admission Committee with a respective certificate.

In accordance with international treaties (agreements) documents on education issued by foreign educational organizations are recognized on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Accreditations

Translation studies program at KAZGUU corresponds to state standards: independent Kazakh agency on quality assurance in education (IQAA) confirmed their accreditation (official confirmation of correspondence of educational services quality).

The Master Program in Translation studies is based on international standards and oriented on local resources. While developing the programs we considered State Educational Standard of the Republic of Kazakhstan and suggestions from employers and other interested parties, as well as HSE possibilities. The program is aimed at the development of interpreters and translators in various spheres.
The program consists of 120 ECTS of theoretical training, compulsory state exams, graduation thesis (project) and internship.

Aim of the program:
Train professionals and provide them with following knowledge and skills:
– understanding of the language theory and linguistics of source and target languages;
– translation/interpretation strategies and methods;
– critical thinking;
– first and second foreign language skills;
– awareness of traditions, culture, history and literature of target language;
– interdisciplinary and social skills, knowledge of economy, psychology, politics, etc.

At the end of the program, graduate are expected to possess the following skills:
– analyze ethical and legal responsibilities in organizations and society;
– compare and contrast the use of theory in qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research;
– intergrate knowledge of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods approaches into developing a research design;
– demonstrate research issues in translation, including recent approaches, current problems and conduct a nuanced text analysis;
– critically evaluate, revise, edit and produce high-quality translations in both the source and target languages;
– identify and distinguish between a range of modern translation software, utilities and tools;
– apply methods and skills of an advanced Internet search;
– comprehend and apply basic principles of consecutive interpreting and note-taking;
– possess developed skills in synchronic translation practice in the fields of economics, politics, oil and gas field, jurisprudence and etc.
– demonstrate interdisciplinary and social skills producing knowledge in the field of economy, psychology, politics and others.

5.2. International students willing to enroll to the KAZGUU Master’s should feel an Application form and enclose to it documents, as follows:
Original of Bachelors’ diploma and a transcript;
6 photos sized 3х4 cm;
Сertificate from your country with a notarized translation into Russian or Kazakh;
086-У Medical certificate with a fluorography and a copy of vaccination card;
Certificate confirms a level of foreign language (if any);
Certificate of an education grant award (if any);
Copy of ID card (you need to have original document with you);
Certificate of criminal records.
All documents on secondary or higher education must pass the nostrification (recognition) procedure at the Center of the Bologna Process in Nur-Sultan city.
E-version of the above mentioned documents should be sent to e-mail of the Admissions Committee at admission@kazguu.kz before July 25, 2019
5.3. Visa support and signing of an Agreement
Admission committee sends an applicant official invitation letter and number of a support for visa application at the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in an own country.
In case of applicant’s the absence in Kazakhstan, it is possible to sign the contract in his country and send the signed contract by mail to the Admissions Committee for further procedure (the expenses for mail services are covered by the applicant). It is also possible to sign an agreement online.
After receiving a visa, the applicant must arrive to the country no later than August 24, 2019 and pay the tuition fee for a 1 semester. At the same time before arrival, the applicant must send the scanned version of his ticket and visa to the manager of the Admissions Committee.
During the day (or the next day) upon arrival in the country, the entrant must register in the journal of the lawyer of the CSC and the migration service.1
Dormitory. The applicant applies for accommodation in the dormitory through the Platonus, an electronic information study system.
