History of the Higher School of Economics has its origin in August 2004, when it was established the Department of “Economic disciplines”. Department of “Economics and business” was established on August 5, 2005 which consisted of “Economics and Management” and “Finance and Statistics” Departments.

On July 14, 2012 by the order of the Chairman of the Board of KAZGUU University was established the Higher School of Economics, Business and Social Sciences, which included:

  • Department of “Finance and Accounting”;
  • Department of “Economics, Management and Tourism”;
  • Department of “Social and Psychological Disciplines”;
  • Department of “Arts and Sciences” (in 2013 became Department of Kazakhstan History and General Studies).

In September 2014 the Higher School of Economics, Business and Social Sciences was transformed into the Higher School of Economics, which brings together:

  • Department of “Finance, Accounting and Audit”;
  • Department of “Economics, Management and Tourism”;
  • Department of “Social and Psychological Disciplines.”

At the beginning of 2015-2016 academic year, Department of “Translation Studies” became a part of the Higher School of Economics.
