Знакомьтесь – Жанна Латышева, студентка 3-го курса специальности «Переводческое дело»

Меня зовут Жанна, я являюсь студенткой третьего курса специальности «Переводческое дело». Говорят, что путешествия расширяют границы сознания. Участие в программе академической мобильности стало для меня большим шагом к расширению кругозора. Являясь студенткой в университете Аньян в Южной Корее, я получила возможность не только быть частью большой многонациональной семьи и практиковать английский язык, но ещё и путешествовать по удивительной стране, духовно обогащаясь. Уйти в горы, увидеть океан, примерить традиционную одежду, есть другую еду, посетить исторические храмы, удивиться особенностям ночной жизни – всё это (и не только) можно попробовать, будучи участником данной программы. По приезде, привезя множество незабываемых впечатлений, хочу призвать студентов нашего Университета к участию в программе академической мобильности – вы не пожалеете.

Meet the 4-year HSE Tranlation Studies student, one of five SUSI 2017 participants from Kazakhstan — Zhanna Latysheva

«SUSI 2017 has become a very important and life changing experience for me. It was challenging, intense and educating. The program took place in the US from June 22d to July 29th. We visited 7 cities, met two mayors, talked to a Justice of Supreme Court, learned about American history and everyday life and tried different types of leadership. We visited several shelters offering our help. That’s how we discovered our service leadership skills. We worked with Habitat Restoration Team. That’s how we discovered our environmental leadership skills. We reflected on a book “The Anatomy of Peace”.

That’s how we discovered our skills in teambuilding and interaction. All these activities helped me to get the insights how to cope with different issues in the USso that I could bring some of them to my country. At the same time, SUSI helped me to open my mind and my heart, to embrace change, to celebrate differences and diversity. All the time I spent with the other SUSI participants from around the globe was productive, heart-warming and fun.

Eventually, I’ve got 79 friends from different countries and many American fellows and mentors. All these people with similar aspirations gave me support, helped me to thrive and invited me to contribute to make the world better.

After the program, I feel gratitude towards Higher School of Economics for opening new opportunities and drawing new horizons. I also feel that it is my responsibility to share my experience with other people, to help those who need help and to become the agent of change.»
